Emmanuel Negedu is headed to the University of Tennessee. Bruce Pearl secured the commitment from the nation’s best remaining player in the class of 2008 on Tuesday afternoon. Negedu selected Tennessee over Indiana, Memphis, and Georgia Tech. “Tennessee recruited him prior to his commitment to Arizona,” said Brewster Academy Head Coach Jason Smith, “so there was a certain level of familiarity there.” Negedu becomes the sixth member of the Volunteer’s recruiting joining 6’5” swingman Scotty Hopson, 6’11” center Philip Jurick,…

St. Andrew’s is undoubtedly one of the most, if not the most, storied program in all of NEPSAC Class B basketball. But even the best programs have to rebuild. After winning back to back NEPSAC titles in 2006 and 2007, St. Andrew’s failed to make the Class B tournament for the first time in recent memory last season. That, in addition to the fact that they are losing both Mike Culpo and Brian Hanuschak to graduation, made it very clear…

Fordham University, which plays host to the Rumble in the Bronx every June, became the first school to make scholarship offers to Andre Drummond and Anthony Jernigan this weekend. Drummond and Jernigan were both impressive as they led CBC’s 15 and under team to a 2-1 record. While both youngsters still have plenty to prove on the floor, their potential is obvious. Drummond has a lethal combination of size and athleticism while Jernigan is already a wizard with the basketball…

In the biggest upset of the opening night, the Mass. Raiders knocked off Team Final in overtime 73-68. The Raiders were led by Danny O’Keefe who scored a team high 18 points, including 12 in a dominant first half. After the fundamentally sound forward hit his first two shots from behind the three-point line, he had opportunities to show off the rest of his game as he attacked close-outs to get to the rim, knocked down his one dribble pull-ups,…

#5 Keiran Ramsey to Southern Connecticut: There are few people that could have predicted that Keiran Ramsey would have ended up at Southern Connecticut playing for Art Leary. In October, Ramsey had just been named South Kent’s captain and was generating recruiting interest from a variety of mid and low major division I programs. Meanwhile, Leary was about to begin his second season away from the sidelines on a leave of absence. But 8 months later things have changes, Leary…

Recruiting is the life line of any good college program. And while there are a variety of factors that go into building a cohesive team, more often than not it simply comes down to talent. Most coaches will tell you that to win at any level, you need players who can play at higher levels: the best division III programs in the country are filled with scholarship level talent; many top division II programs would do very well for themselves…

Preye Boyle is heading to the NEPSAC. The 6’5” forward, who would have been one of the MIAA’s best players had he returned to Central for his senior year, will take his game to Winchendon and play for Head Coach Mike Byrnes. “Coach Byrnes is one of the best coaches in the NEPSAC, and I think he can really help me,” said Boyle. “I love the discipline they teach you there and the academic structure of the school.” Boyle is…
