St. Andrew’s Adds Talented Duo

St. Andrew’s is undoubtedly one of the most, if not the most, storied program in all of NEPSAC Class B basketball.  But even the best programs have to rebuild.  After winning back to back NEPSAC titles in 2006 and 2007, St. Andrew’s failed to make the Class B tournament for the first time in recent memory last season.  That, in addition to the fact that they are losing both Mike Culpo and Brian Hanuschak to graduation, made it very clear that Head Coach Mike Hart needed to add some firepower.  With two recent commitments, Hart has done just that.

Youri Dascy and Mike Carter-Williams are both headed to Barrington next year.  Dascy will repeat his junior year and reclassify to the class of 2010, while Carter-Williams will remain in the class of 2011 and join the sophomore class at St. Andrew’s.

Dascy is a 6’6” power forward who should have a chance to be a division I player after two years under Hart’s tutelage.  He has a great deal of potential as he already features good size, a willingness to bang on the glass, and the skill set to step away from the basket and knock down the open jumper.

Carter-Williams is a 6’3” point guard who should be the foundation of the St. Andrew’s program for the next three years.  While it remains to be seen exactly what his impact will be next year, he has all the ability to eventually develop into a big time player.

“They are both good kids and very hard working,” said Hart.  “We are excited to have them both.”

The duo will join Mike Accaoui, Nyheem Sanders, Ndubisi Ezeigwe, Russell Deremer, and Myles Brilhante to form the core of St. Andrew’s team next year.  The group will be young, but very talented.  And with Hart still at the helm of the team, look for them to return to the NEPSAC tournament.
