Seven different New England teams finished in the top two of their pool and consequently advanced to the championship bracket at this week’s AAU u17 Nationals. Shabazz Napier has been on a tear this week for Metro Boston. As of early Thursday night Metro Boston was the only New England squad still alive in the championship bracket of AAU’s u17 Nationals and Napier’s stellar play was a big reason why. AAU 16u Nationals began this week with 32 4-team pools. After pool play had concluded the top two teams from each pool advanced to the championship bracket, while the 3rd and 4th place teams continued on to the classic bracket. The Hoop Group held their annual Academic Elite session at Albright College in Pennsylvania. In order to qualify to participate in the camp, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.2 GPA in the classroom, and at least an 1050 (Math/Reading Sections) on the SAT.
