Morris Down to Three

Morris Down to Three

Stanford, Clemson, and Georgia Tech all had coaches at the Hotchkiss gymnasium on Wednesday night to see Jason Morris, and apparently they are the three finalists in the long race that has been Morris’ recruitment.

“Mainly those three right there,” he said nodding towards the three coaches when asked if he had trimmed his list since the summer.

The coaches didn’t leave disappointed as the tremendously athletic swingman gave them a series of highlight reel plays.

The first came on game point of the first game when he caught the ball just beyond the three-point arc, took one hard dribble to the rim, and then elevated.  He cocked the ball back with one arm and simultaneously glided in mid-air to the rim before sending the ball hard through the rim.

Morris’ second highlight reel finish of the night came about twenty minutes later when again streaking to the rim from the right wing.  This time he went up with two hands, adjusted himself in mid-air to elude the oncoming defender, and still managed to finish the play with a dunk showing off his tremendous body control.

But there was more to like about Morris on Wednesday night than just his trademark finishes.  He passed the ball very well throughout the night showing a valuable, but underestimated, weapon in his arsenal as he found cutters from the post and perimeter as well as in the open floor.

As good of a player as he is right now, Morris’ best days of basketball are certainly still ahead of him.  With his virtually endless physical tools the sky is the limit in terms of how good he could eventually become.

Morris said that he would like to have a final decision made before Christmas and hasn’t yet decided if he’ll be ready to sign his letter of intent by November’s early signing period.
