UConn Gets Commitment

UConn head coach Jim Calhoun and assistant coach Patrick Sellers were in Georgia on Tuesday to visit guard Jeremy Lamb.  The trip ended up to be well worth it as Lamb made a verbal commitment to the Huskies.

Lamb, a consensus top 100 player in the country, was a guy flying under the radar until this summer when his stock exploded with stellar performances at the Nike Peach Jam and the AAU Super Showcase.

He’s described as a late bloomer by many, someone who is just beginning to realize his ability and definitely has his best basketball still in front of him.

Lamb picked UConn over Texas and Georgia but a long list of other high major schools including Clemson, Florida, and Indiana were also trying to get involved.

Lamb visited Connecticut a few weeks ago and also took an official visit to Texas.

The Huskies had an advantage in the process because they were one of the first schools to begin to recruit the versatile guard, a tribute to Sellers’ ability to evaluate talent given that Lamb came off the bench for his high school team during his junior season.

"I think when they first saw Jeremy play, they were consistent in going after him, really made him a priority and stayed consistent with that," Lamb's father, Rolando Lamb, told Mike Anthon of the Hartford Courant.  "When we went to visit, we saw a family atmosphere, a great tradition, and we know Jeremy is going to have a great ability to develep at UConn."
