Commitment Catch Up (5/12/26)
More prospects in the class of 2026 have announced their commitments to play at the next level in the past few weeks. Here are a few to check out.
Julian Dent - Worcester State University
Julian Dent earned the attention of Worcester State after a standout performance at the NERR Unsigned Senior Event in April while the program was in attendance. The 6’5 wing plays with a relentless motor. He changes the energy of the game with his athleticism and effort on both ends of the floor. He uses his length, tight handle, and downhill ability to create paint touches while also generating opportunities for teammates. His defensive versatility allows him to guard multiple positions and impact the game with intensity.
Allen Brown Jr. - UMass Boston
Allen Brown Jr, a 2,000-point MIAA scorer, showcased his talent at the NERR Unsigned Senior Event and quickly drew the attention of UMass Boston. Brown is an explosive and athletic guard who thrives with the ball in his hands, creating offense for both himself and his teammates. He uses his shiftiness to break defenders down and attack the rim with speed and control. He also excels as a passer, especially in pick-and-roll situations where he consistently finds his big men in scoring positions.
Andrew Rivera - Endicott College
Andrew Rivera heads to Endicott following an impressive prep season that ended with All-NEPSAC honors and a 1,000-point milestone. Rivera joins an Endicott program coming off a dominant 28-2 campaign and one of the strongest Division III seasons in the country. The combo guard impacts the game in a variety of ways with his high basketball IQ, strong vision, and contributions to winning basketball. Rivera is a good perimeter shooter with deep range that forces defenses to extend, while also attacking the basket with strength and control. His all-around athleticism and feel for the game should allow him to make an immediate impact for the Gulls.
Shawn O’Neil - Union College
Shawn O’Neil brings toughness, speed, and playmaking ability to Union despite being undersized for the guard position. He makes up for his size with quickness, smooth ball handling, and a high-level feel for the game, making him consistently create advantages offensively. O’Neil does a strong job collapsing defenses and making the right reads to set up teammates for quality looks. He is also a capable scorer who can knock down shots both off the catch and dribble.
Connor McGowan - Emmanuel College
Connor McGowan heads to Emmanuel after putting together a standout high school career that ended with surpassing the 1,000-point mark. McGowan is a skilled shot creator who plays with a strong pace and change of direction, making him keep defenders off balance. He is especially dangerous when creating separation into step backs and pullup jumpers, while also proving himself as a consistent perimeter shooter. McGowan uses good footwork and body control around the rim to finish through contact and score in traffic.
Bryce Bennett - Regis University
Bryce Bennett heads to Regis University after making a major impact during his postgraduate season at Choate. A true two way guard, Bennett built his reputation as a high IQ player who consistently contributed to winning basketball. He controlled the offense with tight handles, crafty finishes, and reliable perimeter shooting. Defensively, he consistently brought toughness and energy, creating havoc on the ball. His complete skill set and winning mentality should translate well to the next level at Regis.
Jimmy Farrell - Worcester Polytechnic Institute
Jimmy Farrell, recently earning NEC All-Conference honors, takes his game to WPI. Farrell is a polished guard who controls the pace of the game with a tight handle and strong decision-making. He is a three-level scorer capable of knocking down shots from around the perimeter and also rising comfortably into a smooth mid-range game. His quick first step lets him attack defenders off the bounce and finish effectively around the basket with finesse.
