Preston Bollin Chooses Princeton

Princeton has secured a commitment from one of the top prospects in New England's Class of 2027, as Newman School standout and Middlesex Magic wing Preston Bollin announced his decision to join the Tigers and the Ivy League program.

The 6’6” wing from Raynham, MA played a key role off the bench in a historic season at the Newman School, helping the Cardinals to an NEBL Championship, NEPSAC AAA Championship, and National Prep Championship under head coach Jackson Johnson, who recently accepted the head coaching job for IMG Academy’s National Team.

Bollin’s commitment has been a journey surrounded by family and some of the best coaching the region has to offer.

His father, Tim, played college basketball at Colgate. His mother, Laurie, played at Ithaca and runs the Bay State Jaguars, one of the most respected girls' grassroots basketball programs in the country. His older brother Timmy recently signed to Brown University after playing a starting role at Newman, while his older sister Shay played at Illinois before transferring to Wisconsin. The family’s basketball success doesn’t stop there, as his younger sister Avery recently completed a strong freshman season at Dexter Southfield and has already established herself as one of the top young prospects in the region.

To say the least, he grew up with basketball in his blood.

Growing up in that environment gave Preston a unique perspective on the game and allowed him to learn from high-level players and coaches of all levels.

Bollin has spent the last two years competing on the UAA circuit with the Middlesex Magic under Mike Crotty.

This spring, he’s been a standout in national play with the Magic, currently leading the team in scoring through 8 games on the Under Armour circuit. He’s averaging 13 points per game on 55% from the field and 40% from deep, while also leading in rebounds at 5 per game, as they’ve gotten off to a 7-1 start through the first two sessions.

Before arriving at Newman, Bollin attended St. Sebastian’s School alongside his brother Timmy.  The two eventually transferred to the Newman School ahead of the 2024-25 school year, and Preston quickly became an important piece for one of the nation’s top prep programs.

Last season, Bollin came off the bench on a star-studded roster. Rather than becoming discouraged by a smaller role, he embraced the opportunity to learn and develop. That experience paid off this winter as he emerged as one of the biggest stock-risers in the 2027 New England class.

As a key bench piece throughout the season, Bollin consistently impacted winning on both ends of the floor. He earned NEBL Honorable Mention and was selected as one of three Impact Award winners.

One of his best performances came on one of high school basketball’s biggest stages. At the HoopHall Classic, Bollin earned Player of the Game honors after finishing with 16 points and 4 rebounds in a victory over Southeastern Prep, knocking down huge threes down the stretch.

At 6’6”, Bollin possesses the size, athleticism, and skill set that college coaches look for. He is a tough, strong, and versatile defender capable of guarding multiple positions while also providing offensive production from all three levels. Whether attacking the rim, knocking down perimeter shots, or creating opportunities in the mid-range, he has consistently found ways to contribute against the top competition.

His strong play throughout the year attracted attention from several Ivy League programs, including Harvard and Columbia, before Princeton ultimately secured his talents.

The Tigers are getting much more than a talented wing. They are getting a player who has been surrounded by winning basketball his entire life, developed under some of the top coaches in New England, and proven himself on one of the biggest stages in prep school basketball.

After helping the Newman School to a National Prep Championship and establishing himself as one of the top prospects in the region, Bollin will head to Princeton following his senior season as the latest member of a family that has made a lasting impact on New England basketball.
