Williston Northampton freshman Tyonne Malone first made a name for himself last spring and summer while running with the Mass Rivals, but following a huge two day showing at this week’s BasketBull Hoopsfest, it’s safe to say his stock is only just beginning to rise. Kerem Kanter played a starring role for Wilbraham and Monson on Thursday as he stepped up in Goodluck Okonoboh’s absence (shoulder injury) to lead the Titans to a 77-61 win over Jean De Brebeuf during the first day of action at the BasketBull Hoops Fest. Chris McCullough found himself back in the national news this weekend after it was reported that he was interested in returning to his original class of 2013. These reports are nothing new. The state of Connecticut was overwhelmed by tragedy on Friday after the unspeakable acts at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton. With the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference leaving the decision to postpone games at the discretion of individual schools, many districts chose to reschedule Friday night’s contests while others continued on. In the NHIAA, Divisions III and IV tipped off last Friday night, while Divisions I and II get underway this Friday evening across the state.
