Malone Stars at BasketBull Hoopsfest
Williston Northampton freshman Tyonne Malone first made a name for himself last spring and summer while running with the Mass Rivals, but following a huge two day showing at this week’s BasketBull Hoopsfest, it’s safe to say his stock is only just beginning to rise.
Malone opened with 34 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 blocked shots on Thursday in a 96-82 loss to the Master’s School from Connecticut.
What he did a day later might have been even more impressive as he played through a sprained wrist and broken index finger suffered a day earlier, to drop another 30 point performance, this time against Jean de Brebeuf from Canada.
“He’s a special kid. He comes every day ready to compete,” Williston Northampton head coach Michael Athas told Mass Live on Thursday. “He’s a freshman, so its great that we’re going to have him for four years.”
Malone already holds a scholarship offer from UMass and may be close to adding a second prestigious offer as he was watched by Boston College throughout both games this week.
Ballas TV was also on hand to watch the action and produced this highlight reel of Malone’s Friday afternoon performance:
