Plans have changed for Jimmy Gunville! After having originally committing to attend the Tilton School as a post-graduate the sharp-shooting guard has instead decided to accept a scholarship offer from Mercy College and their first year head coach Tony Staffiere. Gunville is best known for his shooting prowess from behind the three-point stripe. During the fall AAU season he had back to back games with 10 or more three-pointers. He also knocked down 12 three-pointers during one game this season…

We have taken the class of 2007 officially off the board and moved the class of 2008 into the senior spot. You will also notice that we have updated quite a few player profiles to reflect changes in school and/or graduation year. This process will continue for the next month or so as we learn of more changes. Some of the biggest changes have occurred in the class of 2009 where the UConn bound duo of Alex Oriakhi and Jamal…

1. Allan Chaney – as we previously reported the New London big man entered the summer with offers from a variety of Atlantic 10 schools as well as Providence College. Now you can count Florida, Boston College, Virginia, Connecticut, Texas A & M, Ohio State, & West Virginia among those who have either offered or showed serious interest. 2. Ben Crenca (pictured) – the big man was as consistent of a low post scorer as we saw this month. He…

Orion Outerbridge has been a very busy young man during the last two weeks. It started when he traveled to Las Vegas to compete with an AAU team from Arizona along with his New Hampton teammate Michael Topercer. From there the athletic big man hopped on a flight that took him to Orlando where he met up with the Bay State Magic to compete in AAU Nationals. Unfortunately though by the time he had arrived in Orlando he was not…

We’ve been saying it all year long. Charles Hinkle is very good. Apparently Vanderbilt Head Coach Kevin Stallings agreed with us. “It’s very rare to get a player the caliber of Charles at this time of year,” Stallings said according to VU’s media relations department. “He’s a good wing prospect, a good shooter with a strong feel for the game. We’re excited to add him to the roster. Hopefully, he has a chance to be a good player.” We first…

Kinard Dozier’s story has been well documented. He is a young man with a goal. That goal is to be a division I basketball player and he is determined to achieve it. It was that goal that brought him to Winchendon where he recently completed a post-graduate year. It was that goal that led him to turn down a handful of division II offers earlier in the season. And it is that goal that has brought him back to the…

Kenechukwu Obi is a big big man. At 7’2 and almost 270 pounds his size alone was enough to warrant consideration from the highest levels of college basketball. And very late in the game DePaul finally decided to pull the trigger on what could end up to be a diamond in the rough player. When Obi arrived at South Kent School last fall his game was very raw. But after a year of competing against one of the deepest and most talented…

Session I is almost always a hot spot for local players as it is the only week of camp that takes place in the New England region. And as we reported a few ago, this year was no different as Adrian Satchell was named the Most Valuable Player and a host of other players stood out including Mike Accaoui, Kyon Watkins, Greg DeSantis, and John Hegarty. But session II is the time when division I prospects from all over the…

Derek Neal and Bryan Little to Regis CollegeRegis College Head Coach Nate Hager has certainly upgraded his roster’s athleticism with the additions of Neal and Little. Both players are products of successful high school programs as Neal comes from Brighton High School in Massachusetts while Little recently graduated from Northwest Catholic High School in Connecticut. Neal is a player who should be able to put points up on the board as soon as he arrives on campus. He flat out knows…

Chris Prescott was looking for the right fit. The Northwest Catholic (Conn.) rising senior guard had interest from Big East schools, but he decided to go somewhere that has made him a priority. Prescott is headed to play for Phil Martelli at St. Joe’s. ``When you have Coach Martelli calling you and saying he talked to his whole staff and he wants you to be the guy, it’s tough to turn that down,” said the 6-foot-1 floor leader. “Not too…
