One of One with Devin Ebanks

NERR:  This is your second season at St. Thomas Moore, are you happy with your decision to come here last year?

Devin Ebanks:  Definitely…this has been the best place for me to grow both academically and athletically.

NERR:  What has it been like to play for [St. Thomas More Head] Coach Quinn?

Devin Ebanks:  It is really an honor to play for a coach like him.  Everyone always talks about how he is one of the best coaches in the country.  He gives me the freedom to play my game while still expecting a lot from me.

NERR:  What are your goals for the upcoming season?

Devin Ebanks:  Championship, championship, championship!

NERR:  Do you guys talk about that as a team?

Devin Ebanks:  The players do.  Coach’s first priority is to help everybody get a scholarship, but once the season starts we’re going to be all about getting the championship.

NERR:  What are your impressions of this year’s team so far?

Devin Ebanks:  We have got talent.  But the guys need to learn what it means to really work hard when you are here.  But it’s only the first week so we’ll get it.

NERR:  Clearly you will be the first scoring option on the team.  Do you see anybody who is ready to emerge as a secondary scorer?

Devin Ebanks:  I think we have a couple of guys…Q [Quasim Pugh], T.J. [Robinson], and Branden [Doughty] can all fill that role.

NERR:  You committed to Indiana earlier this year.  What led up to that decision?

Devin Ebanks:  Really it had everything to do with my relationship with [Head] Coach [Kelvin] Sampson and [Assistant] Coach Senderoff.  I just thought they were the best people to help me handle my future.

NERR:  After committing in June what was the rest of your summer like?

Devin Ebanks:  I stayed here [St. Thomas More] for most of the summer, just working out and going to summer school.  I played in some AAU tournaments but almost all of those were on the weekends when I didn’t have school.
