Last week we took an in-depth look at the national rankings released by both ESPN and the Rivals Network. This week Scout.com became the final of the major three national recruiting services to update their national rankings. It began in the sophomore class where, as we told you a few days ago, it became unanimous that Andre Drummond was the top player in the country as now Scout, Rivals, and ESPN have all made the same claim. Scout.com ranked 75…

Northfield Mount Hermon swingman Laurent Rivard has been a busy man over the last few months. No player in New England logged as many miles between June and July as Rivard. Between playing with the Canadian Junior National team, his Expressions Elite team, and participating in the Nike Global Challenge, he traveled over 30,000 miles this summer. But the NMH sharpshooter doesn’t seem fatigued in the slightest. In fact, few players were as active visiting prospective colleges in August or…

The St. Andrew’s basketball team made their annual trip to the Syracuse team camp last week. For Michael Carter-Williams and Ricardo Ledo, it was an opportunity to get a look at the Big East campus. “Ricky and I stayed after the camp was over,” Carter-Williams told the New England Recruiting Report. “We went around to look at the campus. It’s ridiculous. You can just tell the Carmelo Anthony Center is going to be crazy.” Carter-Williams also claims picking up an…

It was three years ago when we first walked into the Northfield Mount Hermon gym for a fall workout. NMH was loaded at the time with future Notre Dame forward Tyrone Nash along with current Atlantic 10 products Gary Correia and the Williams twins. But one of the players who caught our eye was barely five-feet tall. Shooting on one of the corner hoops on the side court was Makai Mason. At the time he could barely reach the hoop…

Dennis Clifford picked up the first two division I offers of his still young career earlier this week after visiting both Northeastern and Princeton unofficially. “I liked both schools, especially both coaching staffs, very much,” Clifford told the New England Recruiting Report. While Clifford now has offers from Northeastern and Princeton he said he’s also hearing quite a bit from Brown, Lafayette, Cornell, Sienna, and Holy Cross. He’s also been contacted by Vanderbilt, Rhode Island, Quinnipiac, Providence, and Boston University. …

Theitem.com is reporting that Hotchkiss School’s Jason Morris will make his second visit to Clemson’s campus this weekend to watch the football team’s season opening game against Middle Tennessee. Morris previously visited the ACC school’s campus with his father early in the month of August. During that unofficial visit Morris played pick-up with some of Clemson’s players before having dinner with members of the team. Morris is an incredible athlete who is able to make some amazing plays above the…

Lawrence Academy’s rising junior guard is coming off a tremendously productive summer with his Metro Boston AAU club. Yesterday Shabazz Napier spoke with NBE Basketball’s Jeff Borzello. Napier claimed offers from Miami, Memphis, St. John’s, Tulane, Virginia, Providence, Massachusetts, and Houston. Additionally, schools like Villanova, Kentucky, UConn, and Pittsburgh are all scheduled to visit the Lawrence Academy campus this month. He has only visited Massachusetts and Providence, both unofficially, and has another trip scheduled to St. John’s in the coming…

Last week we analyzed updated rankings by both ESPN.com and the Rivals Network. This week, Scout.com is publishing their updated rankings, beginning with the class of 2012 Middletown, Connecticut’s Andre Drummond again took top billing in the country. Drummond, who was first labeled as the nation’s best by ESPN, once again edged out Dajuan Coleman from New York. "Young for his age, Drummond will repeat his sophomore season and talented enough that he’s already being billed as a pillar in…

Over the course of a high school career there are few players who can boast the following individual statistics: 1,400+ career points, 270+ made three-point field goals; 360+ career assists; a free throw percentage of over 90%; and a career three-point shooting percentage just over 48%. Even fewer can boast the following team career stats: participation in four NEPSAC tournaments; a NEPSAC title; and more than 80 high school games won. The young man who has this resume is Derek…

We caught up with Hotchkiss head coach Fred Benjamin late last week and he said his phone was consistently ringing with news of how well his rising junior guard, Derrick Wilson, performed over the summer. Benjamin traveled to Philadelphia early in the month of July to watch Wilson shine at the Reebok All-American Camp. He certainly wasn’t disappointed as the powerful guard played to especially rave reviews that week. For the rest of the summer Wilson ran with the same…
