Napier Gives Recruiting Update
Lawrence Academy’s rising junior guard is coming off a tremendously productive summer with his Metro Boston AAU club. Yesterday Shabazz Napier spoke with NBE Basketball’s Jeff Borzello.
Napier claimed offers from Miami, Memphis, St. John’s, Tulane, Virginia, Providence, Massachusetts, and Houston. Additionally, schools like Villanova, Kentucky, UConn, and Pittsburgh are all scheduled to visit the Lawrence Academy campus this month.
He has only visited Massachusetts and Providence, both unofficially, and has another trip scheduled to St. John’s in the coming weeks.
“When I eventually decide, I’m basically looking for a school that fits my style of play,” Napier said. “A school that runs; like a fast-break team, not much of a half-court team – but I can also play that way. But I’m most effective in a ‘get the ball and go’ team.”
Although Napier already has plenty of options, he appears to be taking his time with the entire recruiting process.
“I don’t have any favorites because it’s [a] business,” Napier said. “At any time, someone – coaches and myself – can change due to many things.”
The electrifying guard got another piece of good news on Wednesday as Scout.com released their updated 2011 rankings and listed the Massachusetts product within the top 40 (39th overall) for the first time.
