Carter-Williams Enjoys Trip to Syracuse
The St. Andrew’s basketball team made their annual trip to the Syracuse team camp last week. For Michael Carter-Williams and Ricardo Ledo, it was an opportunity to get a look at the Big East campus.
“Ricky and I stayed after the camp was over,” Carter-Williams told the New England Recruiting Report. “We went around to look at the campus. It’s ridiculous. You can just tell the Carmelo Anthony Center is going to be crazy.”
Carter-Williams also claims picking up an offer from Syracuse head coach Jim Boehim this weekend.
“I have offers from Providence, UMass, Syracuse, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Clemson, and Temple now,” Carter-Williams said.
So far this month the six-foot-three guard has also visited Villanova, Virginia, Temple, and Providence, with trips upcoming to Boston College and Harvard.
“They’re all very different,” he said. “I don’t have a favorite so far.”
Additionally, schools like Florida, Notre Dame, Purdue, Wake Forest, and Kansas have all been in contact with Carter-Williams and are expected to be in St. Andrew’s gym this fall.
Despite all of the high-major schools that are now in hot pursuit of the talented guard, there is another school on his list that some people might be surprised to hear of.
“I’m going to visit Hartford this Thursday,” Carter-Williams said. “[Assistant Coach] Rick [Brunson] is a great guy. He and my step-father have been friends since high school and he’s really like an uncle to me.”
Carter-Williams also has his eyes set on making an early commitment.
“I think I’m going to commit midway through this season,” he said. “I want to have my senior year to just play and be free…not have to worry about what school I’m going to go to.”
