Upsets were the story of the weekend at the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Classic as a virtual unknown program won the 17u crown and a local 16u team made a statement by plowing through the field to earn the 16u title. The New England Select program is still in their infant stages after being founded only a few short years ago. But this weekend when they won the 16u championship, they proved that they definitely belong among the region’s…

With almost 40 teams in the 17 and under division the Hoop Mountain Invitational Tournament had plenty to offer the many college coaches in attendance. Despite the passionate play of 5’10 sophomore guard Cory Wright Jr., the young Bucs were no match for the deeper and more…

Trinity College has announced their recruiting class and it continues to have a strong New England theme. 6’11 center Daniel Donoghue (pictured above) from the Winchendon School headlines the class. Donoghue is a big man with good hands and feet and a good understanding of the low post game, who should be able to make an immediate contribution in the NESCAC. Emmanuel Negedu has been a prime target of Lute Olson’s for quite some time. That was never more apparent than on the first day of the recruiting period in September when Olson arrived at Brewster Academy by a helicopter that landed on the school’s soccer field. It was never Andrew Hanson’s game that made college coaches wonder. Simply put it was whether or not he would meet the academic requirements to get through the NCAA’s clearinghouse. In fact earlier this year Robert Morris was set to offer the 5’10 point guard a scholarship only to hold up when it appeared unlikely that he wouldn’t be able to make the grade with his studies. Well as it turns out, after a year of incredibly hard work and…

There aren’t a whole lot of 6’9 lefties floating around in low major conferences who can post up, shoot the three, or beat their man off the dribble. Well there is about to be one more as Mehmet Sahan has committed to Sacred Heart University of the Northeast Conference. This season the skilled big man received a significant amount of interest from programs in high and mid major conferences including the likes of Providence, West Virginia, and Richmond to name…
