Sam Leclerc is not a name that too many people outside of New England have heard. But his game is certainly worth remembering, especially for college coaches looking for a point guard in the class of 2008. The Maine native shined at last year’s New England Elite 75 Showcase earning himself a place on the camp’s All-Star team. His ability to see the floor and make his teammates better was especially impressive that day along with his excellent decision making…

With little more then a week remaining before the beginning of the summer evaluation period, some players are trying to get a jump on the competition by attending an exposure camp this week. The Hoop Group’s Eastern Invitational, which ran Monday thru Thursday at Connecticut College this week, is one of those camps. When checking out the action earlier today it was clear that this was a week for underclassmen to stand out. The camp finals were the perfect example…

Had we known then what we know now…this would have likely made the top of the list. If Anthony Fortes had ended up at the division II level we still would have considered it a steal, as he was getting a good deal of division I interest throughout the year. But for division III Rhode Island College to keep the local native close to home is a huge recruiting victory for Head Coach Bob Walsh. Fortes is a 6’2 combo…

#1 Barry Latham to Bryant – Steal isn’t even the right word for this. The fact that division II Bryant was able to land the talented swingman over a variety of division I programs will likely pay lasting dividends for Head Coach Max Good and his program as they are bound to sit near the top of the NE-10 standings for the next four years. Consider this: Latham is a lefty; he is extremely long and athletic; he has done…

Two weeks ago when we were in Massachusetts for the Team Boston Elite Invitational the whispers had already begun that Troy Gillenwater was coming back home. Last weekend when the talented forward was suited up with the New England Playaz at the Rumble in the Bronx it appeared as if the rumors were true. And yesterday it became official as Troy Gillenwater told scout.com’s Jeff Goodman he came home to stay this summer. The 6’7 forward who had left his…

There are a couple of things that make B.J. Monteiro special. First and foremost is his talent on the basketball floor. The 6’5 shooting guard is a natural scorer who can beat his defender in a variety of ways. When he has his game going you can see the full repertoire of moves including spins, step backs, pull-ups, three-pointers, and dunks. But what really sets B.J. Monteiro apart from his competition is his demeanor on and off the court. To…

The New England rankings in the class of 2007 can be a bit deceiving at first glance as it appears as if there are still several quality players left on the board, when in reality that is not necessarily the case. One of the biggest reasons for this, in addition to players who are planning to attend prep school or junior college, is a trend that is showing quite a few European players opting to head home instead of staying…

At noon on the first full day of the Rumble in the Bronx tournament Devin Ebanks had a press conference scheduled in which he would announce his college selection. In what turned out to be the weekend’s worst kept secret Ebanks said he plans to attend the University of Indiana to play alongside one of the top players in the class of 2007 in Eric Gordon. “Their fans are crazy,” Ebanks told scout.com’s Jeff Goodman earlier in the day. “I’ve…
