Nadir Tharpe had a tremendous sophomore season as he averaged 26 points per game for St. Peter Marin High School in Worcester (MA). Despite his high scoring numbers, the sophomore point guard still thought he could have done better. In particular, it was his 5 assists per game that he will be looking to improve in the future. “I had to do a lot of the scoring,” said Tharpe. “But passing is really the best part of my game and…

Twenty-one months ago Mike Myers-Keitt was in a good place. He had just finished his junior season at Fairfield Prep (Fairfield, Connecticut) and was playing the best basketball of his life just as his recruiting interest was picking up. Then everything came to a screeching halt after he suffered a head injury at the Providence College Team Camp. The blow to his head had caused him significant damage. He was no longer fighting for a basketball scholarship, now he was…

Brian Hanuschak has received a crash course in the ups and downs of the recruiting process during his senior year. After a summer in which he played extremely well, he returned to St. Andrew’s in September with multiple division I scholarship offers. By the time the season had begun, many of those offers had disappeared as schools began to receive commitments from other players. But as the year went on and Hanuschak’s strong play continued, more and more division I…

Bryant College will make the historically difficult transition from division II to division I basketball next year. But don’t be shocked if the Bulldogs fare far better than some of their recent predecessors from around the country. They got off to a good start on Thursday as they landed one of the best remaining big men on the board in Romeric Lasme. Lasme has seen his stock skyrocket in recent weeks as he was a crucial component to Winchendon’s run…

Monteiro (19 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists) and RJ Evans (23 points) received the Most Outstanding Player awards. However, it was a relative unknown in Russell Rosenband, who we thought was the game’s best player. The Rhode Island Breakers hosted the first showcase of the post-season on Sunday night. In typical showcase fashion, it was an event dominated by guards with playmaking skills. However, one big man managed to stick out as Nikko Acosta was likely the most impressive player in the field, and certainly the best prospect in the class of ’08. Although he is said to still be hearing from a variety of division I schools, he has yet to receive an official…
