Teams Set for Greater Boston All-Star Game

The best players in the greater Boston area will all be in action on Saturday night as they fill Harvard University’s Laviates Pavilion.  The action will tip off at 6pm with the senior game.

The team wearing the home jerseys will feature several quality big men in James Marcellus, Peterson Bernard, Uche Egesionu, Matt Welch, and Andrew Van Nest who will be playing his first game of many in Laviates Pavilion before he joins the Crimson program next season.  The backcourt will be no less effective as it includes Matt Pressey, Anthony Weeks, Robert Wesley, and Tyler Patch while Romeo Diaz, Tim McKinney, David Riley, and Chris Flores will rotate between the swing spots.

The opposite bench will have plenty of fire power as they will be led by URI bound guard Stevie Mejia, Fairfield commit Jamal Turner, and future Boston University forward Jake O’Brien.  Andrew McCarthy and Andrew Yanulis will shine on the front line while Ryan O’Connell and David Rufful will bomb away from behind the three-point line.  Kyle Gerry, Francisco Luano, Lambros Papalambros, Tyrone Hughes, and Mark Williams will round out the roster.

The evening’s nightcap will begin at 8:00 p.m. as the juniors take the court.

“The fans are in for a treat,” said UConn bound big man Alex Oriakhi when informed that he and Phil Pressey would be paired on the away team.

Joining the BABC duo will be the sharp shooting Austin Carroll, along with emerging stars like Evan Smotrycz, Carson Desrosiers, and Akeem WilliamsHanell Velez, Cory Stockmal, Kyle Stockmal, Billy Marsden, Sam Martin, and Matt Gibson round out a deep and talented backcourt while Allen Williamson will contribute up front.

The home team won’t lack for highlight reel material as they feature Jamal Coombs, Nate Lubick, Gerald Coleman, Mike Marra, Tucker Halpern, and Dartaye Ruffin.  The talent keeps coming with Kyle Casey, Greg Jacques, Dave Johnson, Danny O’Keefe, Shabazz Napier, Darryl Cato-Bishop, and Mike Clifford all on board.

Both games will be open to the public as local fans will have an opportunity to see all of greater Boston’s best talent under one roof.  Doors will open at 5pm.
