Twinfield High School’s Chad Copeland is the best college basketball prospect in the state high school association. The longtime number one ranked player in the state was only recently dethroned when UMass bound point guard Trey Davis arrived at Vermont Academy.  But Davis opted to change prep schools at mid-semester and so now Copeland’s biggest competition comes from another prep school product, this time someone he knows plenty about.  A graduate of Rutland High School in 2011, Troy Davine finished… READ MORE >

Rhode Island’s top ten in the class of 2012 has seen some shifting since we last updated our rankings, but the one thing that stays the same are the two players atop the list. St. Andrew’s big man Cedric Kuakumensah remains the top ranked player in the state while North Providence’s Rob Hazard continues to set the tone in the RIIL and sit in the second spot. Kuakumensah pulled in MVP honors earlier this month as St. Andrew’s took the… READ MORE >

New London High School’s Providence bound guard Kris Dunn continued to make headlines this weekend. Going into Friday night’s game at Norwich Free Academy, Dunn needed 31 points to eclipse Tyson Wheeler’s mark as New London’s all-time leading scorer. Even that lofty number turned out to be well within the six-foot-three guard’s reach.  Dunn tied the mark with a free-throw at the end of the third quarter and then had a breakaway attempt early in the fourth.  While most young… READ MORE >

NEPSAC Week in Review

Posted Friday, January 20th, 2012

It’s a snowy weekend in New England and that means our typical Saturday prep school slate is somewhat diminished, but here’s a look back at the week that was in NEPSAC basketball.  Class AAA • Brewster continues to bulldoze over any opponent in their path.  Friday it was the defending champions MCI who caught an 89-56 beating before the Bobcats held off Tilton on Sunday’s nationally televised contest.  Big wins over Proctor (Jakarr Sampson 19 points) and Winchendon (T.J.
