An updated version of the 2018 ESPN 100 was unveiled this week, with nine members of New England's 2018 class making the cut. As is the case throughout the year, an updated ESPN 100 also means an updated version of NERR's New England rankings. After another successful summer on the grassroots circuits, New England prospects saw an overall rise in their recruitment and prospect status. The overwhelming majority of players ranked atop New England's 2018 class either committed to their…

Over the course of the last week we’ve rolled out updated rankings for the incoming senior class one state at a time. Now, it is time to put those together in one consolidated New England list. The current rankings include 60 prospects but do not yet include incoming prep products who did not play within our state’s borders last year. These rankings also come after spending the entire month on the road, but remember, rankings are based first and foremost…

Massachusetts is the class of New England in 2018. The core of Cormac Ryan, Nate Laszewski, A.J. Reeves, and David Duke have all earned their choice of high-major suitors. Ryan and Reeves came off the board early to Stanford and Providence respectively while Duke has been ascending quickly for the last year and Laszewski re-asserted himself as a national priority this summer. So how do you assess the group against each other? Right now, that’s a question that is going…

Quite a bit has changed in Connecticut since we last updated our 2018 rankings. Filip Petrusev, who would have been a candidate for the top overall spot, has transferred to Montverde Academy in Florida, while Dimon Carrigan has arrived from Cambridge Rindge and Latin for his post-graduate year at Woodstock Academy. The changes haven’t been only due to the prep school waiver wire though as a number of players – Cantavio Dutreil, Tyler Bourne, and Matt Verretto among others –…

New Hampton School and BABC point guard Shandon Brown announced his commitment to George Washington University on Saturday during a ceremony at the Vine Street Community Center in Boston. Shortly after the ceremony concluded, Brown took to his twitter account to confirm his commitment to the Colonials. COMMITTED pic.twitter.com/ufTybRURXe — Shandon Brown (@1click_) August 19, 2017 Brown is widely known as one of the most competitive, dedicated, and hard-nosed players in New England. At 5-foot-9, he may be smaller…

Vermont’s class of 2018 is regretfully less deep than their other New England counterparts. That isn’t to say that they don’t have quality pieces in the local state association, because they certainly do with the likes of both BFA St. Albans forward Jens Ulrich-Verderber and Burlington guard Kevin Garrison in 2018, but that we haven’t seen players from the Green Mountain State distinguish themselves outside their states borders with the same frequency with which we have those from Maine, Rhode…

St. Andrew's and BABC forward Cole Swider and Milton Academy and New York Rens guard Cormac Ryan both appeared on national television Saturday night as they took part in the championship game of the Nike Basketball Academy live on ESPNU. The Nike Basketball Academy was the culminating event of the EYBL grassroots season held over the course of the last five days just outside of Los Angeles. The Academy featured skill training and workshops on a number of subjects in…

While it was certainly a busy summer, not much has changed atop the class of 2018 in the state of New Hampshire. That is certainly about to change though as this will be the last set of rankings without incoming prep products that are on their way to not just Brewster Academy but also New Hampton, Tilton, Phillips Exeter, Kimball Union Academy, and more. Tilton and Expressions guard Marcus Zegarowski leads the local products returning to New Hampshire as he…

Updated 2018 rankings begin in the state of Maine where the vast majority of the state’s top players have given themselves every opportunity to be measured against top competition from New England and beyond this summer. Gould Academy wing Jahbril Price-Noel has retained his spot as the top prospect in the state after his summer with Expressions. A multi-positional player who stands at 6-foot-7, the Canadian native is really only just beginning to tap into his potential and should have…

The most anti-climactic news in Rhode Island is that Cole Swider remains the top prospect in the state. The 6-foot-8 forward is coming off a big EYBL season with BABC in which he committed to Villanova despite earning an offer from Duke. He’s an elite shooter of the basketball but has also improved his athleticism and versatility. In short, he’s the runaway pick for #1 and it isn’t close. The race begins at #2 where Bishop Hendricken wing Tyrone Weeks…
