Swider & Ryan Impress on National TV
St. Andrew's and BABC forward Cole Swider and Milton Academy and New York Rens guard Cormac Ryan both appeared on national television Saturday night as they took part in the championship game of the Nike Basketball Academy live on ESPNU.
The Nike Basketball Academy was the culminating event of the EYBL grassroots season held over the course of the last five days just outside of Los Angeles. The Academy featured skill training and workshops on a number of subjects in addition to appearances from the likes of Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Kevin Durant and numerous other current and former professional players.
On Saturday night, Swider impressed for Team Glove, coached by former NBA All-Star Gary Payton during the week, and rattled off 8 straight points during a stretch in the first half. Ryan suited up for Team Harp, led by five-time NBA champion Ron Harper, and had a number of impressive moments of his own as both players were among the game's standouts.
Swider and Ryan were among only 30 players from within the EYBL to be invited to this year's Nike Basketball Academy.
