The Ducks of the Darrow School are the newest members of AAA of the NEPSAC. Head Coach Antonio Anderson enters his second season leading the program, and brings tons of high-level experience to the school.
More on the Ducks below.
The Guards
Danny Delgardo and Derek Delgardo joined the Darrow School this year with stellar high school careers under their belt. The two guards helped their Leto High School team to back to back state championships and a run in the state postseason tournament. They bring some impressive athleticism to the court with the ability to throw down some big time dunks. Both of the brothers finished top two all-time in scoring at their local school, and have some strong shot creation skills.
Haisi Mayben has picked up division one recruitment thus far with three offers from Albany, Howard and Rider. He's got a ton of range behind the three-point line and plays with a fluidity to him. He's got pace and keeps defenders off balance with his handle. His dad, Tiki, played at UMass and Binghamton.
Nalajah Christopher has winning experience under his belt playing at MIAA powerhouse, North High School in Worcester. He's gotten early looks at the scholarship level due to his size at the lead guard spot with a scoring arsenal and playmaking chops.
Hunter Te Ratana makes his way up to New York from his native country of New Zealand. He plays in the national program in NZ and has notable upside. His defensive versatility, pace and developing shooting are assets to his game worth watching.
Jordan Brown is a Maryland native doing a postgrad season with the Ducks. He's seen success in his playing career with his ability to break down defenders with his handle and hit pull up jumpers.
The Forwards and Bigs
The unsigned big man from Niger, Ibrahim Gati, has had some dominant outings thus far, with offers from Alabama State, Albany and Gardner-Webb to his name. He's a 6'10" rim-running big with athleticism to finish above the basket, and tracks the ball well as a shot-blocker.
There's a lot of upside to like in New Jersey postgrad, Tesneem Ajeigbe. He stands at 6'9" with notable athleticism and ability to put a lid on the rim. His defensive skills have taken him a long way, and are certainly an asset at the college level.
Teshaun Steele has won a ton of games in his high school career, and state championships as well. He's a 6'7" forward who excels defensively with the verticality to seal off the rim, and is another very switchable player on the roster. He's continued to make strides as a floor spacer that can hit some standstill treys.
Igor Gonzalez is a 6'9" forward who has turned heads at Lawrence High School in Massachusetts for some time now, and recently committed to St. Thomas Aquinas. He's an athletic piece in the frontcourt that can block shots and plays with a motor on the boards.
Khalil Carlson committed to Williams a while back, but opted to take the prep route for another year to get acclimated to the college level. He's a strong rebounder, often securing boards over players bigger than him, and provides some scoring.
LJ Falconi brings shooting to the team as the 6'5" wing has some size and great accuracy from outside. Anas Rezk has represented his home country of Egypt playing with the National team. He's a 6'6" senior wing with an inside/out scoring skill set, and can switch to guard a plethora of positions on defense.
Tanner Lawson's got some size to play above the rim and impact the game as a secondary scoring threat. He's made a name for himself as a rebounder and defender as well.
The season is underway for the Ducks, but you can catch them live in action, along with a number of other loaded teams at the National Prep Showcase next weekend!
