The New England Playaz, Nike Expressions Elite, and Connecticut Basketball Club all earned championships on Sunday afternoon. The Playaz pulled away to earn the u17 title, while Expressions held on for the u16 crown, and CBC ran away with the u15 division. In the 17 and under bracket the Playaz proved their superiority by defeating a very hard-nosed Rhode Island Breakers team in the quarterfinals, a talented CBC team in the semi’s, and a hungry Expressions squad in the final. …

This morning’s games gave us a great opportunity to check out some of the players who had been previously flying under the radar. In the 17 and under pools the New England Playaz, Nike Expressions Elite, Connecticut Basketball Club, Rhode Island Breakers, Rhode Island Hawks Black, Rhode Island Hawks Red, Wachusett Wolverines, and Connecticut Hoop Stars will all contend for the championship. Connecticut Basketball Club had two dominating performances, in both the 17u and 15u age brackets. Both teams bounced back after disappointing performances last week at the Playaz Spring Fling. The 17u team dominated the Rhode Island Hawks White team with their full court pressure and transition offense. James Cormier and Marco Radovic both made verbal commitments last week. Cormier heads to Le Moyne College of the NE-10, while Radovic will star at Clark University.
