Chris Prescott, Mike Moore, Charoy Bentley, and TJ Robinson were all in the University of Bridgeport gym on Tuesday night. While all four solidified their status as top players in the CIAC it was newcomer Jeron Belin who may have proved that he belongs in the same group. Belin, a 6’6 senior wing player from Maloney High School in Meriden, first caught the attention of the fans and coaches sitting courtside with a variety of explosive dunks in transition. In…

When you scroll down the St. Thomas More roster the names don’t jump out at you like they do at some of the other NEPSAC Class A schools. With the exception of 6’8 junior small forward Devin Ebanks (pictured above) and possibly 6’3 post-graduate shooting guard Justin Sofman, who is committed to Rutgers, even the most passionate high school basketball fans will probably have never heard of too many of these names. That makes this group about par for the…

The Worcester Academy roster is comprised of 3 post graduates, 1 senior, 2 juniors, and 6 sophomores. Granted several of those players have re-classified but even still this is a very young team in comparison to other schools in the league that are dominated by seniors and post-graduates. While Worcester may be short on experience they have a good amount of talent and cohesiveness. Coach Ed Reilly’s biggest challenge this year may be in the front-court where he has 6’8…

After traveling to Tilton on Monday we kept driving 15 minutes up the highway to NEPSAC “A” Division powerhouse New Hampton. College coaches weren’t expected in until Tuesday but Coach Jamie Arsenault was nice enough to invite us into his gym a day early. The New Hampton team is comprised of a number of individuals who are capable of playing at the mid-major level or better. Guy Alang Ntang (pictured above) is right at the top of that list. Guy…

Three Months ago Matt Hill had just graduated from Cheshire Academy with no scholarship offers on the table. Three years prior, he had arrived at Cheshire for his sophomore year as a prized recruit. But with no scholarship offers on the table many said Matt hadn’t lived up to the hype and he committed to attend Tilton in the fall for a post-graduate year. Then came the July “live” period when things began to change. After a strong performance at…

Earlier this summer, South Kent Prep Basketball Coach Raphael Chillious must have felt pretty good about the front line he had coming back. Seniors Matthew Bryan-Amaning, Ayodele Coker, and Papa Dia as well as junior Christian Morris were all returning for the Cardinals. Then two days ago the front court gained even more depth and talent with the arrival of Kenechukwu “Ken” Obi from Nigeria. The 7’2” Obi is massive with huge shoulders and a strong frame.
