Wednesday marks the beginning of the early signing period, an eight day period in which players are allowed to sign a National Letter of Intent or “NLI”. Unlike scholarship offers and verbal commitments, the NLI is a legally binding document, and one that solidifies a prospects’ commitment to accept a school’s athletic scholarship offer. Putnam Science Academy post-graduate and Notre Dame Fairfield alum, Danny Upchurch, made a verbal commitment to Charleston Southern University. Charleston Southern is a division I university in Charleston, South Carolina that competes in the Big South Conference.
