The first ten days of the live period was a busy time in New England. In fact, we would venture to say that 2009 set a record in terms of the amount of college coaches who traveled to New England in the month of July. It began of course with Hoop Mountain and their Super Week Camps, The Elite 75 Showcase brought all of the region’s top players together in front of roughly 50 coaches (40 from the division I…

After catching a flight home on the night of the 8th, the Playaz practiced on the morning of the 9th and then headed over to the Elite 75 Showcase, where Brito made the all-star…

Few players were better in the first half of the July live period than Billy Baron. He played to rave reviews at virtually every stop along the way, and as he thrived so did his Expressions Elite team, playing arguably their best basketball of the year in the last two weeks. But despite all that, Baron worries that perhaps not all college coaches were paying too much attention because they assumed he would automatically follow in his brother’s footsteps to…

Pat Chambers has landed his first commitment since taking over the program at Boston University. Chambers, who was previously an assistant coach at Villanova, returned to his old stomping ground to pick up 6'1" guard Mike Terry from North Catholic High School in Philadelphia. The consequence is that the kids burn themselves out playing practically every day this month. But…

WPI Completes Class Jameel Galloway, 6'7" forward from Boston College High School and Jaime Shannon, a 6'0" guard transfer from Brandeis University via Lowell High School are both headed to WPI next year where they’ll team with Worcester Academy’s Tony Dolphin to complete the incoming recruiting class. Galloway is an exceptional athlete with a good motor and Shannon is a quick point guard with a tight handle. Both are a perfect fit for WPI's pressure man-to-man defense and fast break…

Matt Brown is going to be wearing Crimson next year. Northfield Mount Hermon’s 6’3” guard just became the first player to commit to Harvard head coach Tommy Amaker for the 2010-2011 recruiting class. Brown had interest from a variety of schools in more competitive athletic conferences, but decided that a degree from an institution such as Harvard was too much to pass up on. “It’s the number one university in the world,” he said. “You can’t turn down an offer…
