The Zero Gravity New England Hoops Festival brought out the best talent in New England to compete this weekend. This crop of prospects was among the most talented we’ve seen this fall on the ZG circuit and games were ultra-competitive down in the South Shore. At the Varsity level we saw Middlesex Magic take the American title over RI Elite - Light to cap off an undefeated weekend at 5-0. The Massasoit Warriors were champs of the National division by…

Friday was a big day for Cushing Academy and Mass Rivals senior guard David Duke as he celebrated his 18th birthday and also announced his verbal commitment to play for his hometown school, Providence College, just as they were set to celebrate their annual midnight madness event. Providence emerged victorious over a final five that also included Virginia Tech, Villanova, Indiana, and Florida. The decision also culminates a dream scenario for Providence as they reunite Duke, A.J. Reeves, and current…

After featuring Woodstock, Springfield Commonwealth and Loomis Chaffee in last week’s edition. It’s only appropriate to group the following programs together in this week’s version since each of their head coaches stepped to the alter on the same day two weeks ago. They could’ve saved a lot of money by paying for AA commissioner Mike Hart to become a justice of the peace and having his preside over the ceremonies after the next conference coach’s meeting. Then again, it probably…

The stakes continue to increase with each passing week as the Path to the Belt is now halfway through and Zero Gravity's New England Hoops Festival on tap for this weekend with the biggest field we've seen so far this season. The varsity division alone features 50 teams, which is almost unprecedented for a fall grassroots tournament in the United States, but the field is just as talented as it is deep with the likes of Mass Rivals, Middlesex Magic,…

Class AAA of the NEPSAC is down to just five teams this year as South Kent School has moved to AA and after having profiled Brewster Academy, Northfield Mount Hermon, St. Thomas More, and New Hampton School over the course of the last week it is time to turn our attention to Bridgton Academy. It isn't often that a product of the Rhode Island Interscholastic League earns a full athletic scholarship for basketball. In fact, it's happened just once in the last five years. That's what made the commitment of Westerly High School's David Tiedemann all the more noteworthy. The 6-foot-8 forward made a verbal commitment to Assumption College on Monday, accepting a full four year scholarship offer from the Northeast 10 Conference School. Tiedemann was a virtual unknown outside of the Ocean State…

In some ways though this second season is more of a new beginning than last year was as almost the entire roster has turned over and quite a bit of young talent has joined the program. The Returners It’s a short list – Shandon Brown. Brown is the…

For over a decade the New England Recruiting Report has been in the exposure business. In that time, we've seen New England basketball reach unprecedented levels of prosperity, both in terms of the success of our teams as well as the national recognition of our individual prospects. Often times though, there can be a thin line between exposure and being exposed. Everybody wants exposure until they realize that they aren't quite ready to earn it given the opportunity and while…

Fall in New England might be my favorite time of the year. It’s got nothing to do with the fact that I only have to pack one sweat towel per gym once the weather sets in. That’s just an additional perk. It’s the annual influx of premium basketball talent that makes all the day trips to area prep schools worth every minute. This year’s newcomers have been as good as advertised, with dozens of prospects adding scholarship offers and making…
