BABC Sophs Wins AAU Championship

BABC represented New England this past week in Orlando as their teams took part in AAU nationals in the 9th, 10th, and 11th grade divisions.

While all three teams advanced to the quarterfinals, BABC took the gold medal in the sophomore division.

They went through pool play without being challenged, winning each game by 19 points or more and didn't see a close game until holding off DMV Stags in the third round of pool play by a 69-65 margin. They knocked off the New York Dragons in the semifinals before defeating Team Loaded North Carolina in the final 67-62.

The AAU championship is the second of the summer for BABC after they took the PIT 10th grade title last week in Augusta.

Matt Cross finished with 20 points and 8 rebounds in the championship game while Shemar Dennis had 20 and 6. Matteo Whelton chipped in with 14 points and 3 threes while Quest Harris ran the show from the point guard position.

The championship was the 23rd AAU title in BABC history.
