Massachusetts 2027 Ranking Drop
The state of Massachusetts has a wealth of talent in the sophomore class as things currently stand.
Over the past two years we have been able to get a lot of scouts on the guys included in the ranking.
As a reminder, rankings are fluid and subject to change. Here's what we had in our first release of the Massachusetts class of 2027.
Theo Edema leads things off at the top spot, as his growth and development as a player over the past year and a half has been outstanding. The seven-footer has already filled out his frame very well, but his skill set on the interior has continued to improve. He was a top riser out of the fall open gym season for Cushing and in the class as a whole.
Following at the second and third spots are Josiah Adamson and Reece Ayala. Adamson was the best freshman in MIAA play last season with his physical and quick play for Catholic Memorial. Ayala's quickness and shifty play at point guard is eyecatching and a mismatch for opposing guards.
TJ Allen and Ladanion Payne rank in the fourth and fifth spots. Allen is the head of the snake for St. Sebastian's and while he's a polished three-level scorer, his ability to collect rebounds and create for others has started to shine. Payne has taken on a larger role in his second season with Brimmer & May, and has shown immense upside.
Ryan McLaughlin and Jalen Rogers fill out the sixth and seventh spots in the ranking. McLaughlin's shooting abilities could be considered the best in the class at the moment, as his versatility and efficiency as a shooter stand out. Rogers, a 6'9" forward at Beaver Country Day, has upside as a threat inside and out as he continues to develop.
Spencer Booth, Coley Mark and Michael McNamara round out the top ten. Booth and Mark have both proven to be floor spacing big men that can convert from the perimeter, but also impact the game in the paint on both ends. McNamara has been the focal point for Thayer Academy's hot start to the 2024-25 season. He's shown upside at the wing spot with his athleticism and ability to play on/off the ball.
