HoopHall Prep Showcase Recap - The class of 2026
The class of 2026 is full of college prospects playing vital roles for their teams this year. Over the weekend, a number of New England and out of region juniors put those watching on notice.
Here are some names to know from the event.
Upstate New York native Ryan Moesch saw his recruitment sharply spike over the last year, and his impact as an incoming starter on Cushing has been very beneficial to the squad. Moesch is as explosive as they come at the guard spot with tons of speed. He’s one of the best shooters in the junior class and has the ability to take over games in an instant. The electric guard proved to be the deciding factor in Cushing’s take down of #1 ranked Mt. Zion.
Desmond Bellot shined in CATS first outing this past weekend as their top scoring option. Bellot was able to finish five for nine from shots outside, displaying shotmaking versatility as he converted off the dribble and off passes from his teammates. While he’s one of the top defenders in the region at the position, his scoring skill is real.
Ruey Ruey’s smooth scoring skills have earned him division one recruitment thus far and he has continued to elevate his game as one of the top options on Massanutten. Ruey attacks the defense using his physicality, can stop and pop shots on a dime, and finishes through contact inside. He averaged 18 points per game over the weekend as Massanutten went 2-0.
Chase Geremia has stepped up in his role with Newman this year and is one of the best shotmakers on the team, as shown by his 30 point night against Perkiomen on Friday. Geremia creates on and off the ball and has a clean release on pull up’s in both the mid-range and behind the line. As one of the top scorers of the weekend, the guard helped his team take down a national opponent.
Collin Ross was one of the better junior frontcourt players in the event this weekend and proved to be big for Spire in their 1-1 weekend. Ross has a lot of mobility at the five spot and can step out for the occasional three. He’s a great roll man and lob threat, and was able to rack up a ton of points in those sets. There’s a ton of upside to like in his game.
Amir Jenkins once again proved himself against the toughest of competition as he finished with 31, relentlessly getting to the basket finishing athletically, and dominating the pace of the game. There’s been multiple moments in the prep season now that people have claimed put him on the map, but a head to head matchup with Deron Rippey Jr may be the one.
Academy New Church has some intriguing prospects, but Cam Smith really did his part throughout the weekend. Over his two games he averaged 21.5 points and 10 rebounds, doing his best to keep his team in the game. He’s a very patient post man that uses his sound footwork to get the looks he wants inside. His playmaking stood out too as he was able to spray the ball out to his shooters.
St. Paul’s won a pivotal Class A matchup with Suffield over the weekend, and while it really was a total team effort, Mehki Simmons play was impressive. The guard was relentless on the defensive end as he finished with 2 steals, and led his team in plus/minus. He was willing to pick up the ball full court, which allowed him to steal it and hit a three as the first half buzzer rang.
Chris Birden might be one of the most slept-on frontcourt prospects in the region. The 6’10 forward is extremely mobile and can play on the perimeter. While he can get easy looks at dunks off pick-and-rolls, he’s also a threat to pop with his smooth jump shot from deep. He only had eight points in South Kent’s single outing, but the flashes were there.
6’5” guard Marten Alles was a spark plug for OSL through their two games over the weekend. Alles averaged 19.5 points as his squad took down Bridgton and narrowly lost to Spire. He can really shoot it from outside and has size to go along with it, and should be a name to know from the squad moving forward.
