2026 #E75 College Showcase Central - Backcourt Recap pt. 2

Devin Sone
Mount Saint Charles Academy, 6'0", 2027

Sone is a quick, shifty guard who consistently keeps defenders guessing with the ball in his hands. He has a strong ability to hit shots at multiple levels with impressive touch once he gets into the lane, and uses his strong handle to create separation from defenders and self create. His pace and ability to keep defenders on his hip stand out while he looks to put together a big senior season.

 

Jayse Johnson
Winchendon School, 5'11", 2027

Stepping into a larger role as a lead guard this season, Johnson looked comfortable with the ball in his hands. He created space off the dribble with ease, finished craftily around the basket, and used his explosiveness to get past defenders. Once he got into the paint, he consistently sprayed the ball out to open teammates. Flew under the radar and may make some noise this year. 

 

Jayvian Cruz
Holderness School, 6'1", 2027

The southpaw guard showed a polished offensive game throughout his outing. Cruz handled the ball well, showed off his touch around the basket, and knocked down shots from deep with confidence. A three-level scorer who has been an integral piece to Holderness' success over the years and is ready to cap it off in style this upcoming school year.

 

Eric Walford
Brooks School, 6'0", 2027

A high-academic guard, Walford makes an impact in many different ways, most notably with his high motor abilities as the lead guard. He knocked down perimeter shots, created offense off the dribble, and used his speed and footwork to pressure opposing guards defensively. He has good passing chops on the move and can get a ton of paint touches. 

 

Dante Baither
Bancroft School, 6'0", 2027

Fresh off earning Class C Championship MVP honors, Baither once again looked every bit the part of a floor general. He controlled the game with the ball in his hands, scored at all three levels, and consistently made the right read for teammates. He also rebounds the ball well from his position and does a good job of generating offense.

 

Colten Pacheco
Pomfret School, 6'1", 2027

Pacheco's quickness with the ball allows him to consistently break down defenders and get into the paint. Once he gets downhill, he makes strong playmaking reads while also showing confidence rising into jumpers. His ability to score and facilitate make him a big piece to a Pomfret team looking to get back on track this winter.

 

Seven Pridgen
Governor's Academy, 6'3", 2027

The next name in a talented basketball family, Seven brings coveted size to the lead guard position at 6'3". He attacked the basket aggressively, played through contact, and showed the ability to knock down shots from beyond the arc. His physical tools and ability to run the show at the point make him an intriguing senior prospect ready to step up.

 

Brody Billone
Mansfield HS, 6'1", 2027

Billone continues to show a polished offensive game in the backcourt. He finished smoothly on drives and consistently knocked down shots from three, both off the catch and off the bounce. He's confident to let it fly from different levels of the floor, and can space out the offense with his ability to shoot from three.

 

Gio Leary
Platt HS, 5'11", 2027

The Platt guard continues to look like another strong prospect coming through the program, as we've seen a few over the past few years. He consistently got downhill, finished through contact, and showed a fluid pull-up game when defenders backed off. He has some shifty handles to him and the ability to zip through lanes and show off his athleticism around the basket. 

 

Kenny Foster III
Amistad HS, 5'9", 2027

Foster attacked defenders, consistently getting into the lane and making plays on the move. He rose smoothly into jumpers, showed good passing vision, and embraced the defensive end with his energy and effort. Pretty well-rounded and can be impactful on either end of the floor.

 

CJ McCrae
Milton Academy, 5'9", 2028

Being the son of a coach shows in McCrae's approach to the game. He has a great feel for reading defenses, attacking the paint, and knowing when to finish or spray the ball out to shooters. He can also really shoot the ball both off the dribble and quickly off the catch. His role as an energizer will be huge for Milton's championship hopes.

 

Jyzear Fiske
Bancroft School, 6'0", 2027

Fiske played with an aggressive mindset every time he touched the ball. He was effective both on and off the ball, using his speed and toughness to get downhill and put pressure on the defense. His attacking style created offense throughout the day and showed off his motor. 

 

Ezra Cutler
Gann Academy, 6'1", 2027

Cutler continues to prove himself as one of the tougher lead guards in the area. He handles the ball with confidence, makes shots at multiple levels, and keeps the offense organized. His blend of toughness and feel for the point guard position stood out once again.

 

Isaac Kashila
North Haven HS, 6'2", 2027

Kashila consistently found ways to get downhill, using crafty moves and polished footwork to navigate traffic. He spun off defenders, created angles into the lane, and showed some athleticism finishing above the floor when opportunities presented themselves. His ability to create offense off the bounce stands out.

 

Caleb Locke
Chariho HS, 6'2", 2027

Locke was one of the pleasant surprises of the day. He showed impressive bounce and athleticism, getting above the rim for dunks that caught the attention of those watching. He also stepped out and knocked down perimeter shots with a smooth release to it. One to check out in the RIIL ranks. 

 

Syre Gillespie
Capital Prep (Hartford), 6'3", 2027

Already a record-setting scorer at the high school level, Gillespie continued to show why he's one of the CIAC's top guards. At 6'3", he has good size for the position and thrives as a shotmaker, consistently rising into jumpers with a fluid release. His offensive game continues to expand as he develops, and he definitely fits the bill as a natural scorer who can fill it up.

 

Ty Fieldhouse
Ellington HS, 6'3", 2027

Fieldhouse showed the ability to knock down threes in a variety of ways, whether spotting up or creating opportunities within the offense. He attacked closeouts effectively, getting into the mid-range or all the way to the basket when defenders overcommitted. Size and ability to heat up as a shooter has gotten him a ton of looks recently.

 

David Redgrave
Saratoga Central Catholic, 5'10", 2027

Redgrave played with a high motor while surrounded by his Valente Rocks teammates. He showed off his soft floater touch, knocked down shots from beyond the arc, and set the table for the offense with his passing abilities. Vocal and can lead the charge with his ability to run the point and see the floor. 

 

Anthony Tallarita
Enfield HS, 5'10", 2027

Tallarita consistently beat defenders off the dribble and attacked the basket with confidence. He finished well around the rim and mixed in perimeter shooting to keep defenses honest. His ability to score from multiple areas stood out while playing alongside his CT Takeover teammates. 

 

Josh Lavoie
Norwich Free Academy, 5'10", 2027

One of the better high-academic state association point guards in attendance, Lavoie showed a great feel for running the offense. He sees the floor well, makes smart reads, and consistently creates opportunities for teammates. His handle allowed him to get downhill and generate offense for both himself and those around him.
