Both the New England Playaz and Mass Rivals were a perfect 2-0 heading into Friday night’s games.  That is particularly impressive for the Playaz, considering they were placed in one of the tournament’s “Super Pools”.  The 8 Super Pools in the field are designated for what the tournament directors deem as the top 32 teams.  Consequently, each of those teams play three highly competitive pool play games and then receive an automatic spot into the gold bracket following the conclusion… READ MORE >

The first ten days of the live period was a busy time in New England.  In fact, we would venture to say that 2009 set a record in terms of the amount of college coaches who traveled to New England in the month of July.    It began of course with Hoop Mountain and their Super Week Camps, The Elite 75 Showcase brought all of the region’s top players together in front of roughly 50 coaches (40 from the division I… READ MORE >

Baron is “Wide Open”

Few players were better in the first half of the July live period than Billy Baron.  He played to rave reviews at virtually every stop along the way, and as he thrived so did his Expressions Elite team, playing arguably their best basketball of the year in the last two weeks.  But despite all that, Baron worries that perhaps not all college coaches were paying too much attention because they assumed he would automatically follow in his brother’s footsteps to… READ MORE >

July Stock Risers

So much now rides on the month of July it’s almost not fair.  With the NCAA making it more difficult every year for college coaches to get efficient time to evaluate prospects, July is now the only time of the year when kids, who don’t go to a high profile high school or prep school, can hope to catch the attention of college coaches.  The consequence is that the kids burn themselves out playing practically every day this month.  But… READ MORE >
