Division ICentral Catholic – Despite the losses of Adrian Gonzalez and Wilfredo Pagan to graduation, Central Catholic still returns arguably the state’s best one-two punch in big man Carson Desrosiers and guard Billy Marsden. While Marsden is a guard who can put points on the board in a hurry, look for Desrosiers to really break out in his junior season and begin to dominate both ends of the floor on a consistent basis. Jose Batistine and Jimmy Zenevitch should also…

Babson Gets a Good OneWhen it said ‘Committed to Babson’ next to Russell Braithwaite’s name in the event program for the National Prep Showcase, many coaches believed it was a mistake. Fortunately for Beavers it isn’t a mistake at all, just a tremendous get for head coach Stephan Brennan. Braithwaite is a physical guard who should be able to come right in and make an immediate impact with his ability to get to the rim and lock up on the…

There is no other New England state that has less continuity in the way their state tournament is organized than Connecticut. Class A Cheverus – Last year’s defending champions look perfectly poised for a repeat as they return arguably the state’s top backcourt in Mick Distasio and Indiana Faithful. Distasio is a lethal catch and shoot player with deep range while Faithful looks poised to break out and establish himself as the state’s top lead guard. But the supporting cast isn’t too shabby either as it features a handful of experienced seniors, a talented junior in Lenny Cummings, and up and…

One of the nice things about New Hampshire high school basketball is that virtually all of the powerhouse programs play in Class L. Consequently, the team that wins that particular state championship truly earns the title of the state’s best. With that in mind here is a look at some of the favorites in Class L. Salem: They ran away with last year’s title, defeating Trinity 66-45 in the final game to earn their second consecutive championship. This year they…

Division IThe FavoritesBishop Hendricken - When you’ve won five straight state titles and return two of the best guards in the state, it’s a pretty safe assumption that you’ll be the favorites. Bishop Hendricken is used to having the “X” on their back and anyone who says they aren’t the pre-season favorites is simply kidding themselves. Billy Baron, the hero of last year’s state championship game, returns for his senior season as perhaps the state’s top player. But he’ll get…

Hyde SchoolLast year’s defending champions return their best player in powerful 6’3” guard Tywon Clark. He’ll be able to put points on the board in a hurry and will get plenty of help from 6’3” sophomore Jumah Sutton. Zach Crocker and Ryan Giebel will also be able to contribute. If they can get Jovan Mitchell and Jovan Smith back in the line-up they will certainly be the favoritesPingree SchoolAllen Williamson returns for his senior year at the Pingree School and…
