Sacred Heart High School rising senior Mustapha Heron made a verbal commitment to Bruce Pearl during his visit to Auburn this weekend. The pledge was an unexpected development since it was just one week ago that Heron claimed a top five and said he expected to take all five of his visits. Wilbraham and Monson Academy and Mass Rivals forward Wenyen Gabriel cut his list to five earlier this week and eliminated everyone but Duke, Kentucky, Connecticut, Providence and Maryland. Phillips Exeter Academy and Metro Boston product James Foye made a verbal commitment to Dartmouth on Wednesday following his visit. Foye had also visited Amherst and Bryant in recent weeks, as well as Princeton in the weeks prior to the July evaluation period. Williston Northampton rising senior swingman Sam Geschickter made a verbal commitment to Bentley University, accepting a full four-year athletic scholarship offer. Geschickter began his career at Brookline High School before transferring into Williston Northampton last year, where he helped the Wildcats to a NEPSAC championship in just their first year in the Class A ranks.
