Eamonn Joyce 2016

Tuesday was a day for division II commitments as the Hyde School’s rising senior big man Eamonn Joyce made a verbal commitment to Southern New Hampshire, giving the NE-10 their second local pledge of the day.

Joyce committed during a visit to SNHU’s campus on Tuesday and took to his twitter account to announce his decision:

Joyce began his career at St. Clement in Massachusetts and helped them to an MIAA Division 4 state championship in 2014 before repeating his junior year at the Hyde School in Connecticut.

This summer he was part of the D.C. Blue Devils program that took the championship at the Hoop Group Summer Tip-Off, went to the final of the summer Jam Fest before ending the summer with a trip to the Elite 8 of the AAU Super Showcase in Louisville.

Southern New Hampshire became the second division II school to offer Joyce a scholarship following the trip to Louisville.

"I couldn't be happier for Eamonn," Blue Devils head coach T.J. Thompson said. "He really worked hard this summer proving himself against good competition. He set a goal of being a scholarship player and he achieved it."

Joyce is a skilled big man who has consistent three-point range on his jumper as well as a good feel for how to play on the perimeter. He is the first in what is expected to be a big class for SNHU.

Below are some of his highlights from his junior season at Hyde:
