The walls of Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex will no doubt be crowded tonight as Hoop Mountain visits Stonehill College to hold their annual Fall Classic. The Fall Classic is a showcase style event that gives 150 college prospects the chance to show their stuff in front of college coaches. The event typically attracts 100+ college coaches and this year should be no different. Here is a small sample of the players expected to be in action:Zach Auguste, 6’5”, PF,…

Quite often New Hampshire basketball doesn’t get the credit it deserves. Because it is a relatively small state and in the northern region of New England, sometimes their best players can fly under the radar. But as they showed at this weekend’s New England Elite 75 Showcase – Frosh/Soph Edition, there is quite a bit of young talent about to come up through the ranks. Here is a look at those who caught our eye:Kaleb Tarczewski, 6’10”, C, Stevens HS,…

Ricardo Ledo and Billy Soriano appear to be at the head of the RIIL’s class of 2011. Both players shined brightly on Saturday, showing why they appear poised to do damage in just their sophomore seasons. As usual Soriano was at his best with the ball in his hands. The quick guard has a tight handle and can go virtually wherever he wants to on the court. Add his emerging creativity and you can see why he is a playmaker…

It was less than a month ago when Simeon Marsalis arrived at Brewster Academy for his post-graduate year. But in that short period of time, the point guard managed to attract a long list of potential suitors. On Monday the New York native ended what had quickly become a fierce recruiting battle, as he committed to the University of Vermont. He had also been receiving strong interest from a variety of other schools in the Ivy and Patriot Leagues as…

Evan Tullar – The 6’4” sophomore from Spaulding High School made quite a name for himself on Saturday as he proved himself not only to be a talented player, but also a very intelligent one. He also has a solid floor game including a good sense as to when to attack the defense and when…

First, getting all of the region’s best young players in the same gym at the same time would allow the top young prospects to distinguish themselves among their peers. Second, it would also help other young prospects who had previously been flying under the radar to make a name for themselves. Saturday’s showcase did…

UMBC has had very good fortune in the past recruiting players who have been developed at Windsor High School. Six years ago they signed an undersized power forward named John Zito. Despite the fact that Zito was flying under many people’s radar at the time, the Retrieves didn’t hesitate to pull the trigger. The Windsor native went on to have a hugely successful career, being a two time team captain and an All-America East selection in his senior year. Friday…

The name of the front of the jersey still says “Prep” and that’s all you need to know. This is your typical Notre Dame team, ready to take on all comers with a series of quick and talented guards and long and athletic forwards. There style won’t be any different than it has been for the last decade. They’re going to play hard and compete on every possession, they are going to get up and pressure for the entire length…
