The third annual Derek Kellogg Basketball Coaches Clinic will be held on Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Curry Hicks Cage. The clinic will feature UMass head coach Derek Kellogg and his staff conducting a two and a half hour practice with three breakdown drill sessions for different positions, lunch and a social hour. Kimball Union Academy forward Jesse Chuku will attend Lehigh University next year. Chuku committed following his official visit to the Patriot League campus this weekend. Chuku is a long and athletic six-foot-seven forward with an emerging skill set. The college basketball season is officially underway, at least the practice season that is, and Friday’s kick-off meant Midnight Madness at a variety of schools throughout the country. New England was well represented in those festivities as UConn, Providence, Rhode Island, and others all held Midnight Madness celebrations on Friday night. Stonehill College went to the state of Ohio to land their third commitment in the class of 2012 this weekend. Pierce Cumpstone is a six-foot-six swingman from Kenston High School. He started all 21 games last season as a junior and averaged 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists while setting a school record for three-point accuracy by going 62 out of 130 from behind the arc. ESPNU 25 swingman Wayne Selden (Boston/Tilton School) has returned to the court after being sidelined by injury for the first month of the school season.
