The 2009 BABC Holiday Classic welcomed high school teams from four of New England’s six states to Chelsea High School over the last two days. Three divisions were comprised of four teams each as opening round games were played on Monday and final rounds on Tuesday. Loomis Chaffee post-graduate John Nielsen has made a verbal commitment to attend St. Anselm’s College next year on a full basketball scholarship. Nielsen arrived at Loomis this fall after a tremendous two sport career at Port Jefferson High School in New York. Notre Dame Prep has a big surprise on their roster…and we do mean big. Raphael Giaimo, a six-foot-ten two-hundred-and-seventy-pound center, was a late addition to the Notre Dame roster this fall. A native of Marseille, France, Giaimo didn’t arrive in American until after the fall evaluation period had taken place.
