For college coaches, it’s a steep challenge to find any type of recruiting value late in the spring, especially if your needs are big, but St. Bonaventure has done just that with a commitment from Lee Academy’s Youssou Ndoye. Southern New Hampshire landed a big commitment recently when Manchester Memorial forward David Madol committed to the Penmen. Madol has been one of the NHIAA’s top players in recent years, first starring at Trinity High School before transferring to Manchester Memorial for his senior season. Vermont Academy post-graduate Keron Deshields made a verbal commitment to the University of Montana on Friday just a few days after returning from his official visit. The Connecticut Basketball Club was the big winner this weekend at the Hall of Fame Spring Classic. After plowing their way through pool play, CBC had a similarly easy road in the quarterfinals, knocking off CW Basketball from New York 89-59. Notre Dame Prep’s Zarko Valjarevic committed to stay in New England for another four years on Sunday when he pledged to Maine head coach Ted Woodward. Northfield Mount Hermon alum Chris Fitzgerald will be transferring to Columbia University for his sophomore season following his freshman year at George Washington. Fitzgerald will have to sit out next season due to NCAA transfer rules but will have three years of eligibility remaining beginning in the 2012-2013 season.
