Thomas Knight’s recruiting stock has rapidly grown since the AAU season began. When the April live period began, most considered him a probable low major player with Ivy, Patriot, and America East schools showing the most interest. But in April he began to generate some buzz as he demonstrated an improved body, level of conditioning, and overall impact on both ends of the floor. That in addition to his combination of size and skill level was enough for a variety…

Alex Berthiaume is headed to St. Michael’s. He has accepted a full scholarship offer from head coach Tom O’Shea and will begin school next month. “I’m pumped,” Berthiaume told the New England Recruiting Report. “This is what I have always hoped for.”While the decision to pass on the opportunity to do a post-graduate year at MCI was a hard one, ultimately St. Mike’s just had too much to offer. “It really just seems like it will be a perfect fit,”…

For BABC, it almost seems as if losing is never an option or nowhere close to their thought process. They were able to run through Garner Road Elite 81-68 in their final pool play game at the AAU Nationals in Orlando.Leo Papile's group was able to generate much of their offense through a pressure zone defense which made things tough for Garner Road Elite. Much of the scenario was the same in the first quarter, whatever shots Garner Elite could…

It was only a few short months ago that Alex Berthiaume made the decision to attend prep school after his graduation from Cathedral High School in Springfield, Massachusetts. At the time he thought that an extra year at MCI would help to provide him with more opportunities to earn a scholarship. As it turned out, he only needed a couple of months to do that. After shining this month with the Rhode Island Hawks & Expressions AAU teams, Berthiaume has…

New England was well represented down the stretch of the Super Showcase as BABC advanced to the quarterfinals of the gold bracket and then faced off against Boo Williams in a game that was pre-arranged for national television. Metro Boston lost a hard fought 2 point overtime decision to Reach Legends from Detroit. The loss pushed them to a second place finish in their pool. Shabazz Napier, Ike Azutam, and Chris Flores all scored at least 18 points in the contest. Metro ran into a familiar opponent in their next game, as they faced the Mass Raiders in the sweet 16 of the bronze bracket. Napier put on a show from behind the arc, connecting on ten three-pointers…

Reports from Las Vegas that Maurice Creek is lighting up the opposition have to be bittersweet for the people at the South Kent School. In one sense, they are surely happy for the Maryland native who spent his junior season at the Connecticut prep school. But on the other hand, it is also a case of what could have been, now that Creek will be taking his game to Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia. Creek, who gave a verbal commitment…

It has been a good summer for a number of Vermont players who have been out on the circuit trying to improve their standing with the college coaches and evaluators. Joe OShea has played well for the Expressions Elite team and has people wondering if he may end up at a mid major level. Clancy Rugg is with the Expressions as well, a young senior with length and upside, a year of prep could vault him to the next level.…

Although there are far fewer teams from New England in sin city this week than in years past, it is hard to deny that Las Vegas is the capitol of the basketball world for the next five days. Not only is the U.S. Olympic team in town for training, but each of the major three show companies are running their customary tournaments. The New England Playaz and Mass Rivals are both at the Adidas Super 64, while the Connecticut Playaz…
