New Hampton Veteran Makes Decision

When Michael Topercer leaves the New Hampton school at the end of this year he will have a long and distinguished resume.  Perhaps the most telling statement about his impact on New Hampton basketball is that he has started in their backcourt for each of his three seasons, which is a feet almost unheard of in a league as talented as Class A of the NEPSAC.  He also serves as the captain of this year’s team.

Following Topercer’s senior season last year he had distinguished himself enough so that he had earned multiple division II scholarship offers as well as a good amount of division I interest.  Hoping to generate more scholarship offers, Topercer opted to return to New Hampton this year as a post-graduate.

But in between his senior and post-graduate seasons came the all important AAU season, and Topercer ceased the opportunity that the summer provides as he thrived with his Arizona Metro Elite squad, earning national media recognition and plenty more potential suitors in the process.

The interest has remained steady and significant since arriving back in New Hampshire this fall, until early this week when Topercer was finally ready to make his decision.  The Arizona native has spurned division I opportunities and made a verbal commitment to Bentley College, a division II program from the Northeast 10 Conference who has found themselves among the nation’s highest ranked teams in most pre-season polls.
