Seven Non-New England Prospects to Know Ahead of #HHPS

The HoopHall Prep Showcase kicks off next weekend with over seventy teams filing into the birthplace of basketball for four days of high-level competition.

Today, we took a moment to highlight seven players making their way to Springfield from other states, countries and even continents whom college coaches should check out while they’re in the area.

Triston McDonald 6’2 Guard 2027 (The Skill Factory): One of the best shooters in the class with NBA-level range from deep and a lightning-quick release off the catch. Has smooth handles and a soft touch on floaters in the lane with either hand.

Josiah Coleman 6’4 Guard 2025 (Golden State Prep): Combo guard who is comfortable playing either on or off the ball, and is a confident shooter with a great release. He plays at his own pace, and is not easily sped up by the defense. He is often able to use his length to pester opposing guards on defense.

Abdullah Amzil 6’7 Forward 2025 (Drive Academy): Slashing forward who uses his body well to shield off contact in the lane. He has a clean release on catch and shoot opportunities from deep. Great cutter and overall feel for the game. Amzil has offers from Wyoming and University of South Carolina, and next weekend will be a great opportunity to watch him within the states.

John Ikpotokin 6’8 Forward 2025 (Rothesay-Netherwood): Athletic forward who is nearly unstoppable in transition attacking the basket. Uses his incredible leaping ability to block shots, snatch rebounds, and get way above the rim on dunks. Ikpotokin is also able to use his athleticism to jump into passing lanes and get his team going on the break.

Jackson Williams 6’4 Guard 2026 (Spire): Shifty guard who is a threat to score from anywhere on the court. Great finisher at the rim with either hand, and is able to use his athleticism to get to the basket. He is also a pest on defense, accumulating a lot of steals and deflections. Williams has offers from Kent State and Stetson.

Cam Smith 6’7 Forward 2026 (Academy New Church): Smith has great ball handling and passing abilities for a player his size and plays under control. He is attentive on defense especially with his timing in passing lanes, and is able to space the floor with his jump shot as well.

Khaleeb Obieke 6’0 Guard 2026 (Andrew’s Osborne): Obieke is an elite pull up shooter from deep, whose range extends well beyond the 3-point line. He is comfortable attacking the basket and knocking down floaters over taller defenders. The point guard’s lightning quick acceleration paired with his shooting ability make him a nightmare to guard in the pick-and-roll.
