Updated 2014 Rankings Begin in Vermont

It should come as no surprise that the updated junior class rankings in Vermont begin at Vermont Academy, where the state’s only powerhouse prep program hosts the top two players.

Hassan Hussein is a six-foot-eight skilled big man who came to school by way of the Capital Region and specifically the D.C. Assault program, where he was a staple of the team’s 16-and-under team last year.

Right behind Hussein is a familiar face in New Hampshire native Dimitri Floras who saw his stock reach new heights last spring and summer while continuing to intrigue a variety of division I college coaches since then.

What may be a bigger surprise than Vermont Academy playing host to the top two players in the state, is the top ranked player out of the state association.  Vlad Cobzaru, a six-foot-seven forward from St. Johnsbury Academy, debuts on the rankings as the top prospect from the Vermont Principal’s Association.

Right behind him is Rice Memorial’s lead guard Tom Fitzgerald, who sits at the helm of one of the most storied programs in the state, while we return to St. Johnsbury to round out our top five, where Brendan OShea takes that title.
