McGary Assumes Legendary Status
It's been a busy week, to say the least, in New England.
First Kris Dunn made his pick then Andre Drummond made his shocking announcement. Ricky Ledo announced an upcoming decision then Irene rolled into the region.
Lost amidst the headlines and power outages was Brewster Academy big man Mitch McGary earning legendary grassroots status this weekend when he ripped down a backboard at the Boost Mobile Elite 24 game.
Make no mistake about it, Aquille Carr, Justin Anderson, and Kyle Anderson may have earned MVP honors, but all people will remember from the 2011 game is McGary shattering the backboard into hundreds of pieces after catching a lob off the backboard in warm-ups.

A man of many names, McGary was dubbed high school basketball's version of "Psycho T" after showing power and intensity reminiscent of Tyler Hansbrough this winter and spring. This weekend the title of "White Chocolate" caught on among his Boost Mobile teammates but was quickly replaced by "White Thunder" after earning the first round knock out over the unsuspecting backboard.
Ironically, on the same day that McGary starred on Venice Beach he also became the top ranked player in New England as Andre Drummond's decision to return to the class of 2011 sent the Brewster star to the top spot in the NERR 2012 rankings and second overall on the ESPNU 100.
