Introducing Donovan Mitchell

Donovan Mitchell is a name that many local high school basketball fans might not yet know, but one that college coaches are quickly learning.  

Mitchell was one of several prospects to attend the Providence vs. Boston College game on Saturday, and ended up landing an offer from the Eagles before leaving their campus.  

The six-foot-three swingman is currently in his first season at the Canterbury School after previously attending Greenwich Country Day School, a co-educational independent school in Greenwich, Connecticut which takes students through the 9th grade.  

He’s come up the grassroots ranks with The City, a New York based program founded in 2008, and was a pivotal part of their run to last summer’s AAU 9th Grade National Championship.  

Although he’s only a true sophomore, and a young one at that, Mitchell has shown the consistency of a veteran since arriving at the Canterbury School.  Through seven games he is averaging 20.5 points per game, while scoring between 19 and 23 points in all seven outings.
