Hoop Group Elite Camp - Award Winners
Session II of the Hoop Group Elite Camp was held at Albright University in Reading, Pennsylvania, but for the better part of four days it seemed like it was in New England, as the local products were the story of the camp.
Cushing Academy point guard Wabissa Bede was named the camp's MVP and was one of 13 different New England products to be chosen for the Top 20 All-Star Game. Saul Phiri, Aaron Wheeler, Jarrod Simmons, Kimani Lawrence, Tyrn Flowers, Hasahn French, Jimbo Lull, Chris Baldwin, Jerome Desrosiers, Samuel Japhet-Mathias, Unique McLean and incoming Putnam Science post-grad Chuba Ohams were also selected.
Three more New England products - Tyonne Malone, Ellis Christmas and Elijah Wilson - were tabbed for the "21 - 40" All-Star game while there were 8 other prospects selected for the underclassmen game in Arashma Parks, Calvin Whipple, Jordan Hardwick, Anthony McNish, Dana Tate, Preston Santos, Nate Laszewski and incoming Northfield Mount Hermon big man Maxwell Lorca.
In total, there were 60 all-stars selected from over 700 campers at Albright last week and 24 of those 60 came from New England.
