BABC Wins 99th Gold; Prepares for Shootout

BABC's sophomore team defeated Mass Elite 72-46 to win the NEAAU 10th grade District Division 1 Gold Medal at the NEAAU Final Four at Mass Premier in Foxboro this weekend.

This was the seventh consecutive Gold Medal in the 10th grade division for BABC spanning an era in which the club won the AAU National Division 1 Championship in 2010, 2011 and 2012 and also reached the Final Four in 2013.

This 2015 edition also captured the NEAAU Super Regional Gold Medal in April. BABC's freshmen team won both NEAAU District and Super Regional Gold Medals this year, while BABC Academy won the NEAAU Super Regional 14U Gold Medal to bring the alltime total to 99 since NEAAU began regional play in 1980. The BABC juniors recently qualified for the EYBL Finals at the Nike Peach Jam, becoming the only program in the country to do so in each of the six years since the EYBL originated.

The sophomore roster included Garrett Stephenson (Suffield Academy), Nick OSarenren (Governors Academy), Caden Dumas (Worcester Academy), Jalyn Hinton (Governors Academy), Javaughn Edmonds (Thayer Academy), Justin Mazzulla (Bishop Hendricken), Jakigh Dottin (Cambridge Rindge and Latin), Keyshaad Dixon (St. Andrew's) and Sherron Harris (Lawrence Academy). The sophomore team is coached by Britney Papile, who recently completed her first season as an assistant coach at the Tilton School.

All three BABC high school aged teams will be in action this weekend in the 44th annual Boston Shootout at Cathedral High School in Boston.

The Shootout, which has been an annual hit since 1972, will feature some of the Northeast’s best amateur teams including four clubs from Massachusetts (BABC, New England Playaz, Metro Boston, and the New England Storm), two clubs from New York (Albany City Rocks and New York Jayhawks), one club from Connecticut (USAD), one club from New Jersey (Wayne PAL), and one club from New Hampshire (DC Blue Devils).
