When everyone at the New England Recruiting Report and Hoop Mountain decided to do a freshman and sophomore showcase, we were motivated by two main factors. Many of New England’s most talented young players will flock to Boston today for the Elite 75 Showcase – Frosh/Soph Edition. The event will attract the best young players from all six states as well as an impressive staff of high school and college coaches. UMBC has had very good fortune in the past recruiting players who have been developed at Windsor High School. Six years ago they signed an undersized power forward named John Zito. Despite the fact that Zito was flying under many people’s radar at the time, the Retrieves didn’t hesitate to pull the trigger. The Western New England Basketball Association consists of 18 Class B schools in District IV: Avon Old Farms; Berkshire; Canterbury; Cheshire Academy; Choate Rosemary Hall; Deerfield; Gunnery; Hotchkiss; Kent; Loomis Chaffee; Pomfret; Salisbury; Suffield; Taft; Trinity Pawling; Westminster; Wilbraham & Monson; and Williston Northampton.
