Continuing my series of looking at the NHIAA’s top prospects, next up is the class of 2011. This is a class that used to have Kaleb Tarczewski and Jared Fahmy, but both players transferred to prep schools this summer. Still, there is a lot of talent in this class and a lot of these kids are very underrated. David Madol, Trinity HS – Madol, a 6’6” forward, is one of the most improved players in NH. He came off the…

The 08-09 season was Kelvin Jefferson’s first at the helm of the South Kent program and he led the Cardinals to one of their most successful seasons ever. South Kent finished the regular season atop the Class A standings, advanced to the finals of the NEPSAC tournament, and earned an invitation to the National Prep Championship. A year later Jefferson returns for his encore performance, but this time with a brand new team. This year’s South Kent team features the…

Dominic Borelli, a six-foot-seven big man who anchored the interior for MBR this summer on the AAU circuit, has made a verbal commitment to attend St. Anselm’s College on a full four year scholarship. Earlier this morning we gave you a glimpse at New Hampton’s prospectus for the upcoming season. Later in the morning came news that post-graduate forward Kyle Cain had made his decision and ended his recruitment. Cain, a super athletic six-foot-seven forward from Illinois, had trimmed his list to four schools – Nevada, Northern Illinois, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin-Green Bay – earlier this month and on Monday opted to stay in New England for another four years and head to Rhody. …

In the two years that Pete Hutchins has been at the helm of the New Hampton program, his teams have developed a reputation for playing one of the most competitive schedules in the country. In no uncertain terms New Hampton will play anyone, anywhere, at any time. Last season Hutchins and his team were almost penalized for their strength of schedule by not being eligible for the post-season NEPSAC tournament. With the only requisite for entry being a .500 overall…

Following his junior season at Phillips Exeter Academy, his first in Class A of the NEPSAC, Greg Newton knew there were areas of his game that needed improvement. “I spent a lot of time with Coach [Jay] Tilton watching film, analyzing my game, and developing a plan for me to improve certain areas,” Newton told the New England Recruiting Report. That plan involved an intense post-season training regiment last spring which typically included daily double sessions of three potential workouts…

Friday night was the official start to the college basketball season and Midnight Madness is always a great opportunity for schools to get their priority recruits on campus and give them a good show. Both of New England’s local Big East schools took full advantage last night as Providence and UConn both played host to prized recruits. Six-foot-eight Devon Collier from St. Anthony’s School and New Heights was on PC’s campus this weekend for an official visit. He was joined…

When you walk into St. Thomas More head coach Jere Quinn’s office you see walls covered with pictures of past players in their college uniforms. Truth be told, Coach Quinn ran out of wall space a long time ago and now stores his pictures in a series of books. The moral of the story is that there is a distinct link between the present and the past at St. Thomas More, and that linkage is particularly strong this year. Three…
