If this summer was any indication, Michael Topercer’s third season at New Hampton is likely to be his best. The skilled combo-guard saw his game go to new levels this summer as he shined during the July live period running with the Arizona Metro Elite club. He was never more impressive than in Las Vegas where he averaged over 20 points per game at the Reebok Summer Championships. That performance earned him some well deserved national recognition as he was…

The Boston Warriors were as consistent of an AAU team as you could have found this season. After a spring that saw them turn in impressive results at the Providence Jam Fest, GymRat Challenge, New England Super Regional, and Massachusetts State Tournament, the team didn’t miss a beat as spring turned to summer. The July open period started with the Reebok Summer Classic where the Boston Warriors captured the Silver Bracket Championship. Then it was off to Orlando where they finished…

New Brown men’s basketball coach Jesse Agel has made it clear that owning his backyard will be a priority in recruiting. Not only has he targeted, and now landed, two local New England products, but all three members of his newly formed staff have roots in the region as well. For any Ivy League school that wants to target New England, Northfield Mount Hermon is a good place to start. McCarthy becomes the sixth NMH product to commit to an…

Of all the invitation-only events that take place throughout the country during the summer months, perhaps none does a better job of attracting all of the nation’s top prospects than the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Game. Because the game is not sponsored by one of the major shoe companies, it has the rare ability to attract players from teams regardless of their sponsorship affiliation. This year’s participants include: Lance Stephenson; Brandon Knight; Trae Golden; Dominic Cheek; Maalik Wayns; Tony Wroten…

Fox Sports’ Jeff Goodman is reporting that Jin Soo Kim is on track to qualify to play at Maryland this year instead of next season. That is a change from the original plan that called for Kim to return to South Kent for his senior season before arriving at Maryland in the fall of 2009. But getting Kim eligible a year early may not be too far fetched considering the talented Korean forward was originally part of the class of…

The…

As always, the New England Elite 75 Showcase drew a wide variety of local and national media attention this year. Jeff Goodman (Fox Sports), Tom Konchalski (HSBI), Antonio Williams (ESPN), and Phil Kasiecki (hoopville) are just a few of the national writers and scouts who were in the Boston University gym to cover last Thursday’s event. Williams’ story, “Living in the Limelight” has been the lead article on ESPN.com’s recruiting page since Friday. The story includes write-ups on Thomas Knight,…

Louis Montes – Sporting a bearded look, Montes was a man amongst boys with the guys who tried to defend him. He was able to power his way to the basket whenever he felt like doing so as well as make shots from behind the arc. Add on that anytime he missed he seemed to be around the area for the offensive rebound and put back and it was a very well rounded performance from the small forward. Greg DeSantis…

Anthony Jernigan – People rave about his potential at the lead guard position and you can see why. Jernigan was a magician with the ball. He was able to keep defenders off balance and get teammates the ball for easy shots. The knock on him had been his jump shot which looks to have vastly improved, with proof from a few pull up jumpers that were right on the money. All in all…the youngest point guard in the gym may…
